About Our Client

Our client is a global tech company specializes in cutting-edge wireless communication solutions, radio frequency, network optimization, and secure wireless connectivity. They are setting up their new International Headquarters in Singapore, hence are looking for a Compliance Counsel to be based here.

Job Description

  • This role reports to the Compliance Manager.
  • Drive global compliance excellence by serving as the key liaison between overseas business units and the parent company's compliance, legal, and audit teams.
  • Champion Compliance Policies: Implement and optimize parent company compliance policies, adapting them to local legal landscapes and business needs, ensuring seamless execution across international operations.
  • Lead Compliance Management and Risk Mitigation: Act as a strategic Compliance Business Partner, conducting thorough compliance reviews of transactions, contracts, and partnerships to proactively identify and address potential risks.
  • Facilitate Audit Processes and Remediation: Collaborate with the parent company's audit department, coordinating document provision and process explanations, and develop rectification plans to resolve audit findings efficiently.
  • Cultivate Compliance Awareness: Serve as the primary point of contact for external stakeholders on compliance matters, deliver impactful employee training on critical compliance topics (anti-bribery, data privacy, etc.), and promote adherence to company standards.
  • Ensure Cross-Regional Coordination: Foster strong collaboration between overseas business centers and internal departments, ensuring information alignment and consistent compliance practices.

The Successful Applicant

Educational Foundation:

  • A Bachelor's degree or higher in Law, International Commercial Law, Risk Management, or a related field.
  • Strong preference for candidates with a finance or accounting background.
  • Highly desirable qualifications include a Law degree (LLB/LLM/JD), international compliance certification (CCEP, ICA), or finance certification (ACCA).



Relevant Experience:

  • A minimum of 3 years of compliance management experience, particularly within a multinational company or with overseas business operations.
  • Experience supporting audit departments in compliance audits is a significant advantage.
  • Familiarity with international trade and expertise in key regulatory areas such as export control (EAR, OFAC) is essential.



Core Competencies:

  • Risk Sensitivity: Demonstrated ability to quickly identify compliance risks in diverse business scenarios and implement effective risk mitigation strategies.
  • Audit Collaboration: A solid understanding of audit processes and standards, with the ability to work seamlessly with audit teams and drive timely problem resolution.



Essential Soft Skills:

  • Adaptability to frequent cross-border collaboration and travel.
  • The ability to balance business objectives with compliance requirements in complex regulatory environments.
  • Proven experience in delivering engaging training and presentations to enhance employee compliance awareness, utilizing case-based teaching methodologies.
